Bill Higgins is an award-winning former newspaper sports editor and writer who has covered everything from World Series, Super Bowls, Stanley Cups and NBA championships to the Masters golf tournament, Boston Marathons, America’s Cup yacht races and World Cup soccer matches. And, of course, lots of high school games. He’s happily married to a Yankees fan and likes to remind her that the Red Sox have won three World Series since 2004. The youngest of five children, he heeded his Dad’s advice: “You have two ears, one mouth … You’ll do well if you listen twice as much as you talk.”
Past honorees of the Compass of Hope Gala, and others associated with the fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, gathered in Hyannis recently to meet this year’s guests of honor – medical honoree Molly Sullivan, MD, and community honorees, the Pendergast family. They will be officially recognized at the Compass of Hope Gala on Oct. 13 at the Oyster Harbors Club in Osterville.
