Health and science stories fascinate freelance journalist Rich Holmes, who grew up in a medical family and worked as a newspaper reporter, copy editor, designer and newsroom manager. Enjoying food and drink and writing about them figure among his pastimes. As a volunteer organizer, he raised about $100,000 for research into FSH muscular dystrophy. He and his fiancé divide their time between Hyannis and Monson.
Over 75 people attended the recent Orleans Citizens Forum, which took a closer look at the status of medical treatment and care for all Cape Codders. A leadership panel from Cape Cod Healthcare included President and CEO Mike Lauf, Chief Medical Officer Donald A. Guadagnoli, MD, and cardiologist Elissa Thompson, MD, who together presented the state of medical services and treatment here on the Cape and explained what is yet to come.
