Employee Wellness Spotlight: Kim Range, RN

Health is not a destination, rather a journey filed with ups, downs, excitement and personal growth. There is no one way to get in shape.

At Cape Cod Healthcare, we recognize that small steps add up to big moments. That’s why our Employee Wellness Program is focused on enhancing the health of each and every employee. Whether you are trying to boost cardiovascular health, lose weight, or lower cholesterol, we know that engaging in regular exercise can be an impactful intervention. And we also know the value of having access to key wellness content and education.

One of the best ways to get started on your own wellness journey is to learn from others — so meet Kim Range, RN from Cape Cod Hospital IV Therapy.

Kim lost over 50 lbs in 12-months and has been able to maintain her weight for the last three years through sustainable lifestyle changes. We sat down with Kim to learn more about her weightloss and what motivated her to take the first step:

What led to the change and lifestyle and motivation to lose weight?

As an older mom, Kim wanted to be appropriate role model for her teenage daughter. In addition, she has as history of cardiovascular disease in her family, so Kim wanted to stay healthy as long as possible. Additionally, Kim noted that her husband and daughter have been very supportive and motivating. For example, her daughter will ask her to go for walks if she didn’t work out on a certain day.

So how did Kim lose so much weight, what worked for her?

A friend asked Kim to join Beachbody with her, so she did. She also promised to her friend that if she lost weight, she’d become a Beachbody coach. After Kimdid lost 50+ lbs, her friend held her accountable to become the coach, and today Kim is an official coach with Team Beachbody! Kim has cultivated a community of other like-minded people who are on their own wellness journeys and offers a private Facebook support group, which welcomes 65 people (half of which are CCHC employees!). As a community, the support group members share exercise photos and tips, while holding each other accountable to stick with each Beachbody exercise or training program.

To join Kim’s Facebook Beachbody group or to learn more about Beachbody programs, please contact Kim at krange@capecodhealth.org

P.S. Cape Cod Healthcare has made Beachbody eligible for reimbursement under employee health plan (up to $150 per year); so there’s no better reason to start your own health and wellness journey as early as today!
